ABOUT US

Eagle Chess School was founded in 2018 by Grandmaster (GM) Arthur Guo and Ingrid Guo. We provide high-quality free chess camps for underprivileged children in the metro Atlanta area. Using chess as an educational tool, we aim to help children improve their critical thinking skills, to enhance their self-esteem and to help fight social inequality and prejudice. Eagle Chess is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization and  US Chess Affiliate.

  • Grandmaster (GM) at the age of 17. International Master (IM) at the age of 12

  • Highest-rated 18-year-old in the country and #13 on the FIDE World Junior Ranking for 18-year-old in the world as of Aug 1st, 2024

  • Nine-time National Chess Champion

  • Won the championship as well as the Edmondson Cup for the 2021 National Open in Las Vegas, which featured a very strong field of 22 chess Grandmaster (GM)s and 29 International Master (IM)s. Achieved my first GM Norm

  • Back to back (2023 and 2022) Champion for The GM Arnold Denker National Tournament of High School State Champions. Clear first (6/6) in the 2023 Denker, the only perfect score in the last 30 years of tournament history.  First place finish on tiebreak in 2022

  • Led the #6 seed Georgia team to capture the 2023 National Invitational Team Champion

  • 2022 National High School Champion (K-12) (first place finish)

  • Won 2021 National K-12 Blitz Chess Championship. Won 2018 National Junior High (K-9) Championship as a 6th grader and won 2016 National Elementary (K-6) Championship as a 4th grader. 2012 National K-12 Grade Level Co-Champion (1st)

  • Three-time International Youth/Junior Chess Tournament Gold Medalist/Co-Champion for Team USA. Co-Champion for 2018 Pan American Junior U20, Champion for Pan American Youth U12 and U8

  • Second place finish on tiebreak in 2023 US Junior Championship, which featured the best of the best of America's chess youths under the age of 20

  • Tied for Second (4th on tiebreak) in 2018 World Cadets Chess Championship in Spain

  • All-American Chess Team for nine years (2015-23) in a row

  • Top ranked Georgia female scholastic chess player with seven years of competitive chess experience

  • State representative four years in a row (2016 -19) for Susan Polgar National Girls’ Chess Invitational and US Chess National Girls Tournament of Champions

  • Represented USA in World Youth Chess Championship in Greece as a member of US National Youth Chess Team
